Scholarship Students Say Thank You

Our scholarship students are grateful for the opportunity to pursue their education.

Kathleen Giblin

2015 - Aviation administration - Peter H. Goodwin Endowed Scholarship

“Without the generosity of my donor as well as Lewis University offering me additional financial assistance, I would not be able to attend Lewis. More than likely I would be at a community college, unable to study aviation since it is not offered. I therefore would not have had the opportunities awarded to me that I have had thus far in the aviation program, such as meeting current industry professionals.I hope to accomplish one day being the first in my family to achieve a Ph.D. I would love to work for a federal agency or work my way up to a top position in a Fortune 500 company. These dreams all start with the basis of my education at Lewis University. I  am a part of the Lewis Navigators, giving tours to prospective families. I also work as a student worker in the business office, in various disciplines. I try to go to Women in Aviation as much as possible when I am not working as well as other aviation clubs like American Association of Airport Executives.”

Kimberly Stremme

2017 - Nursing - Brother Leo Forgette Endowed Scholarship

“My scholarship helps my family afford for me to continue with school. It has changed my life. Without the scholarship I'm not sure where I would be. I hope to accomplish my nursing degree and become a nurse one day.”

Caitlyn Rodighiero

Junior - Early Childhood Education

“This scholarship helps me achieve the education I need to fulfill my dreams. My scholarship has helped take a huge financial burden off of me and my family. The donors are very generous for helping me and other students achieve our goals and better ourselves. I hope to come out of Lewis with a better understanding of the world, a fantastic degree, and confidence to make a great life for myself. I go on many trips through the Lewis ministry such as: Koinonia, EPIC trips, and the Luminate trips.”

Abby DeMus

2016 - Nursing - John Eudes Memorial Endowed Scholarship

“My scholarship provides me with the opportunity to further my education and fulfill my dreams of becoming a nurse. Without this scholarship, I am not sure if I could do that. This scholarship has positively influenced me because it showed me the importance of giving. This will follow me in my nursing career and I will remember how I felt so hopefully I could give someone else the same. I hope to influence many lives the way my donors have influenced mine. I was a mentor in Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS), worked in the Financial Aid Office for two years (2012-2014), member of SNA (Student Nurses Association), helped raise funds for Coin-a-Pollooza which helped family costs to children in Advocate's Children Hospital, was a participant in Lewis University's Bootcamp and Zumba for a Cure which supported breast cancer, and attend miscellaneous classes in the Recreation Center on campus.”

Ying Gao

Junior - Criminal Social Justice - Bernice & Leonard H. Lavin Endowed Scholarship for Inner City of Chicago

“I would have had a hard time payingfor my tuition, and could not come to college and get my education without the scholarship. Indeed, I would not be the person who I want to be in the future, and my dreams would not come true. The donors gave me an opportunity to fulfill my dreams and earn a higher education, so that I will have ability and a chance to get back to the community and help others and pass it on. In that way, more and more people will be helped. I am the member of the FOJ(Fellowship Of Justice) at Lewis, and I helped out for the summer Bridge Program. Also, I am hired to be peer counselor throughout the school year for the Bridge Program. Moreover, I am on the Lewis Mediation Team, and I helped contributed for the 3rd, 4th, and 6th places in the international competition in 2013.”
