How to record a video using your Webcam and YouTube

To get started, simply have your webcam ready and be logged onto YouTube (you'll need a free account if you don't already have one).

1) Go to https://www.youtube.com/my_webcam

2) Click "Start recording"

3) Record your video

4) Click "Stop recording"

5) Click the blue "Upload" button.

6) Change the title, description as you wish, and optionally, change the status from "Public" to "Unlisted."

7) Click "Save"

8) You can see a list of your videos by clicking the arrow button on the top right, above the “save changes” button OR go to https://www.youtube.com/my_videos

9) Click on the title of the video you made so you can view it.

10) Email us at alumni@lewisu.edu with the URL link. (Copy and paste the URL from your browser window.) You may also choose to share the link via the social media website of your choice.

 

How to Share a Recorded Video

You can also record a video using your phone or other recording device. Video files are very large and won’t send through normal email.

1) Upload the video file onto a file sharing/storage service. A few free file sharing services include:

  • Google Drive (https://drive.google.com/) if you currently have a gmail.com or Google account, then you should already have access. Free 15GB to use.
  • OneDrive (https://onedrive.live.com/) if you currently have a Live.com or Hotmail.com account, then you should already have access. Free 15GB to use.
  • Dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/) You’ll need to create a new account if you don’t have one already. Free 2GB to use.

2) Email us at alumni@lewisu.edu with the URL link.
