Meet Our Donors - Giving Back

Our donors continue to give back in support of today's students.

Lewis University donors are an engaged and integral part of the community, and give back to the University in gratitude to provide current Flyers with scholarship opportunities, enhanced educational and research facilities, new programs, and much more. Many of our donors lead interesting and influential lives. Their stories are demonstrative of the impact that their gifts have on the University and students, and the ripple effect that giving can have. Together, our donors demonstrate how philanthropy can make a difference in today's world.

Tony Pena '98 - Giving Back

“At a time when I needed financial assistance in my life, Lewis provided it to me.” Tony explained he benefitted from donors to Lewis not just financially, but by university improvements. “New dorms, the field house, the fitness center. These were an enhancement to the quality of campus life and athlete performance.” Thanks to this personal experience, Tony consistently gives to Lewis to help students achieve their goals.  “It is only right to repay others what I was paid.”

A Perfect Landing at Lewis

Ferretti

Frank J. Lewis, noted Chicago philanthropist and industrialist, and his wife Julia took an active interest in Lewis – then Holy Name Technical School – since the founding of the institution. Over the years, Mr. Lewis provided funds to support student scholarships and also financed the construction of several buildings that became the core of the campus, beginning a rich history of investment in the University. While Mr. Lewis died in 1960, his spirit of giving continues to touch the University today. This year, Robert Kelly approached Lewis University about the idea of donating an aircraft to the aviation program. more»

Audrey Heiberger, ’14 - Donor and Volunteer

Now that she has a full-time position in the field she studied, Audrey’s goal is to give back to the school that helped her make it through and graduate in four years. “My time at Lewis inspired me to give back because donors helped me.” She started with the Senior Challenge in 2014 by making a gift of $20.14. Audrey has consistently given ever since. Not only does Audrey contribute monetarily, she volunteers her time and talent to Lewis’ student-run literary magazine, Jet Fuel Review, as Layout Editor, Cover Designer, and Assistant Art & Design Editor.
