Dr. Ernesto J. Martinez
The Office Lasallian Belonging is proud to host Dr. Ernesto Javier Martínez (he/him/el), an award-winning writer, literary critic, and professor at the University of Oregon, as our LGBTQ+ History and Hispanic Heritage Month speaker. Dr. Martínez’s work explores how marginalized communities use storytelling to reclaim their narratives through literature, film, and art. He is the author of On Making Sense and co-editor of Gay Latino Studies. His creative projects include the bilingual children’s book When We Love Someone, We Sing to Them and the acclaimed short film "La Serenata," licensed by HBO Max. A leader in both academia and media, Dr. Martínez brings a powerful voice to conversations about identity, justice, and representation. Join us for an inspiring event celebrating the richness of LGBTQ+ and Latine experiences.
