2025 Linguistic Justice Series Launch
This fall, the Office of Diversity will launch the Linguistic Justice Series, a new initiative rooted in the historical mission of St. Augustine College and its deep commitment to bilingual education and social justice. This dynamic series brings together scholars, educators, students, alumni and community leaders for panels, roundtables, and dialogues exploring the intersections of language, power, identity, and equity. Topics include the evolving definitions of “correct” language, the practice of translanguaging, and the significance of culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy in today’s multilingual society. The Linguistic Justice Series not only uplifts bilingualism as a strength, but also reaffirms our collective responsibility to develop educators, service providers, and professionals who are equipped to serve diverse communities with understanding, respect, and intentionality.
