Fall 2018 James and Mary Clare Sczepaniak Endowed Lecture Series - At Home in Illinois: The View from Historic Houses

LectureThe Lewis University History Department invites you to the Fall 2018 James and Mary Clare Szczepaniak lecture entitled: At Home in Illinois: the View from Historic Houses. This year’s presentation is on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. in the UDR (University Dining Room).

The panel includes:

  • Kelly Kloubucher – President, A Muse Consulting
  • Scott Mchaffey - Executive Director, Farnsworth House
  • Donna Sack - Vice President for Community Engagement and Audience, Naper Settlement,
  • Dennis H. Cremin, Lewis University, will serve as moderator of the panel.

This year’s event marks the Illinois Bicentennial with a focus on historic houses. The panel will address the range of stories that are told at these nearby sites. The conversation will be informed by Frank Vagnone and Deborah Ryan’s book, The Anarchist’s Guide to Historic House Museums (2013). The authors assert that historic houses need to find new ways to reach out to museum visitors. Come learn more about some nearby sites and join in the conversation!
